On Wednesday, December 19, 2012 the Newtown CT High School Varsity Girls Basketball team, the Nighthawks, took to the court to return normalcy and respite, even for just an hour or two, to a town shattered by tragedy.
Sports have provided a safe haven for kids to just be kids during a very difficult time. The Varsity Girls won their game and kicked off a fundraising program called “Threes for Sandy Hook”. For every three-pointer hit during a varsity, junior varsity or freshmen game, $3 is donated to the fund for Newtown, CT.
The New Jersey based Saddle River Day School Girls Basketball program is lending its strength and support to this effort and donating $3 for every three-pointer hit this season. The tragedy in Newtown has touched everyone in some way. We all hope to be a positive force for change in the world and to show our kids how to give back to the communities that support them. Saddle River Day invites you to join us in the “Threes for Sandy Hook” program supporting the families in their time of need.
